About the role
The Grid Manger will provide oversight and guidance to CERO's development, procurement, and construction teams, as well as development partners, ensuring that grid connections are feasible and optimised both technically and financially.
The Grid Manager will have strong technical knowledge and experience being able to directly manage specialist consultants as well as representing CERO’s interests, and building relationships, to key Grid connection stakeholders such as network operators/owners and local partners.
Main responsibilities
Development
- Responsible for providing ongoing support to Cero’s development team and platforms via providing input, guidance, and oversight of grid connection workstreams, ensuring that appropriate DD has been performed at each stage of the grid connection process.
- Technically engage with network operator to develop feasible and efficient Grid Connection solutions
- Engage with other industry players to ensure optimisation in the approach to shared infrastructure
- Responsible for supporting the continuous improvement of grid processes and tools.
- Responsible for supporting the technical optimisation of the project and liaising with Cero’s technical managers, on optimising layouts, grid connections and project designs.
- Work closely with procurement team to ensure that market and general Grid connection CAPEX assumptions/estimates are realistic.
- Responsible for engaging and participate in key working groups in the local market on the subject of the regulatory environment for grid.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate FEED has been performed based on the development stage and connection complexity.
Procurement
- Responsible for technical input on key project contracts to procure grid services and works (IPC, EPC, OE, O&M, PPA, etc.) to ensure that project works are correctly scoped, risk is understood and suitably assigned between contracts.
- Responsible for supporting the procurement team in the purchasing of key electrical equipment.
- Responsible for providing responses to grid technical connection queries raised in any sell down, project acquisition, debt process or project due diligence process.
- Alignment and collaboration with procurement and construction managers in assessing grid related risk management and grid works time schedule.
- Support procurement in the definition of Owners Engineering and other relevant consultants’ scope of works regarding grid connection.
- Provide ongoing support to the relationship between the network operator and other key grid connection stakeholders.
Construction
- Maintain high level oversight of grid connection activities.
- Support the construction manager to ensure that all the interfaces between the grid works, grid compliance and other key connection stakeholders are being effectively managed by the owner’s engineer.
- Support the relationship between the network operator and other key grid connection stakeholders.
Operations
- Provide support to the ongoing relationship with network operator.
General
- Develop and improve internal processes and operations with other Cero’s teams, to optimise overall commercial results.
- Develop strong internal relationship with Cero’s multi-disciplinary teams including training and knowledge sharing (legal, technical, finance, asset management) to be effective in the role.
- Ensure lessons learnt are captured, reported, and communicated throughout the project life cycle.
- Responsible for having an overview of local market grid connection processes and regulatory environment for grid.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate FEED has been performed based on the development stage and connection complexity.
What will you need to succeed in the role?
- Industry technical experience and market understanding in Transmission, Distribution and Renewable sectors.
- Extensive experience in the management of the grid connections for renewable energy projects.
- Must have technical background ideally with a degree in electrical engineering.
- Must have a detailed understanding of commercial aspects of the EPC process and preparation of project specifications.
- Self-motivated professional with excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Flexible, accurate and capable of further developing the business.
- Strong delivery focus & attention to detail.
- Excellent presentation skills including preparation of materials.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English and Italian. Additional languages (Spanish, French) are advantageous.
